The more you network, the more you know!

Our EK HOME, EK LIVE, EK FUN and EK LOOK trade fairs are a central marketplace for the entire industry. Retail comes to life at our 32,000 m2 trade fair centre in Bielefeld, Germany. The events are a market showcase and a platform for networking with our specialist retailers, industry partners, service providers and EK itself. That is something other retail cooperatives also appreciate, such as our partner VEDES, which has had its own 3,000 m2 showroom at the EK trade fair centre since early 2015.

At external trade fairs like the IFA (Berlin), the Ambiente (Frankfurt), the Nürnberg toy fair and others, we also fly the flag for owner-managed speciality retail. All protagonists win out through direct exchanges with each other.

Experience shared inspiration

Retail success is sown in the head and reaped at the Point of Sale. In our role as ideas supplier we collect the thoughts of forward thinkers and lateral thinkers in trade, industry and science at our annual trade congress. The congress offers imagination instead of scepticism, forward thinking instead of nostalgia and has earned its place in our competency network.

Co-determining and co-designing

Members of the Council of Representatives or the Distributors’ Advisory Council wrestle with ideas to find the best solutions for EK in general and shop concepts in particular. This process can be controversial but problems are always discussed and thrashed out constructively.

Exchange pays off

The members of our ERFA groups are “networkers” in the best sense of that word. Here it is all about making contacts, maintaining relationships, learning from each other and shaping the future. An exchange of experiences with colleagues who see themselves as partners. A common aim: to hone each specialist retailer’s own profile and to increase value creation.

Discussion where none of the important trade questions are taboo: Our regional meetings provide the perfect framework. Both the overall situation of EK and the development of business areas are on the agenda. The main focus is the question of questions: How can we best support our specialist retail partners competitively?

New ways to success

How do our colleagues at home and abroad function? What challenges and secrets of success shape your working day?  EK retailers find the answers to these and other questions during our study tours. The unanimous opinion: Looking outside the box is simply invaluable!

Perspectives for tomorrow’s people

Young Network stands for pure culture – and not in name only. This independent initiative for young entrepreneurs and potential next-generation members was founded in 1992 and now lives out the idea; “exchange leads to success” more than in almost any other organisation within EK. Their focus is the specialist and personal exchange of information based on the mutual respect and openness of all members, who now come, incidentally, not only from Germany but also from France, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Around 120 networkers see their role as being co-creators and “demonstrators” of key issues such as the Internet or social media and will work closely with EK to bring a breath of fresh air to the group.
